光束汽车是宝马集团和长城汽车设立的全新合资企业，总投资51亿元人民币，年标准产能为16万台。预计拥有约3000名员工。 2018年7月，在中德两国领导人的见证下，双方正式签署合资经营合同，确定以50：50的合资形式成立光束汽车。“光束汽车”的名称寓意着光明、荣耀、清洁、能量和速度，代表了开创新能源汽车产业新格局的公司愿景。2019年底，公司正式注册成立。

Spotlight is a new joint venture established by the two companies with a total investment of 5.1 billion CNY and standard capacity of up to 160,000 vehicles per year. It will require around 3,000 employees after the ramp-up phase. In July 2018, witnessed by Chinese and German government leaders, the two shareholders signed the 50:50 joint venture agreement. The name "Spotlight" implies light, glory, cleanliness, energy and speed, and underlines the company’s vision to create a new model of development in the NEV industry. The JV was officially incorporated in late 2019.
